Bible Studies
Bible Studies are designed for people to discover more about being a disciple of Jesus Christ. To connect the Word of God with daily life experiences and to explore ways to deepen faith practices in everyday living.
Some of our Bible Study groups have been together for many many years and new groups are being formed as requested.
Our pastors offer a weekly Bible Study on Wednesdays at 10:15 AM from mid-September to the middle of May.
On Wednesdays, during Lent and Advent, the pastors offer a Bible themed sermon series for mid-week worship. Worship services are held at 12:00 PM (noon) and 7:00 PM.
ChristCare Small Groups
ChristCare Ministry is a small group ministry that is part of Stephen Ministries. The purpose of these small groups is to learn together, pray together, and care for one another. ChristCare Groups are described in the literature as Circles of Care with Christ at the Center.
There are four components to ChristCare. Leaders try to follow when their groups meet which is an organized and disciplined way of studying the Bible: Prayer and Worship; Missional Service; Community Building and Care; and Biblical Equipping.
Currently there are eight ChristCare groups, all doing very well because of the excellent leadership of our ChristCare leaders. Each ChristCare group consists of twelve members or less who are following a long tradition of small groups of Christians meeting regularly and studying scripture together, caring for one another, worshipping and praying together and reaching out to others through Christian service.

Men's Faith Sharing Breakfast
Fifteen to 20 men gather on Wednesday mornings at Alexander’s Restaurant on Carlisle Avenue for a time of Bible study and discussion. Led by one of the pastors, this group studies the text(s) for the upcoming Sunday sermon. Lively discussion, commentary, and insight arise from the fun and active bunch of men of St. Matthew. The group gathers at 6:45am with the Bible study concluding about 7:15am. The men can purchase breakfast at 7:15am with the favorite order being "#11, over easy." Truly this is a great way to get over that "mid week hump."
Promise Keepers
Promise Keepers at St. Matthew meets once a month. The existence of Promise Keepers is for the purpose of encourage men to grow as men of God and to be held accountable in their actions. This small group ministry started in 1996.
Promise Keepers is a Christ-centered organization dedicated to introducing men to Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord and then helping them to grow as Christians. We routinely do this through study, discussion, prayer and encouragement of one another.Millions of men have participated since March 20, 1990 when Promise Keepers first began nationwide. Promise Keepers is not a membership organization.
Sewing Group and Quilters

The Sewing Workshop of St. Matthew meets on the first Wednesday and the fourth Tuesday of each month from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at church. We make quilts for local needy children and for Lutheran World Relief.
We also accept donations of any fabric, bed sheets, or cash donations to buy filler to make the quilts warm. There are many ways to assist and fancy sewing skills are not required.
Co-Parenting Today
Co-Parenting Today is a new small group of parents and stepparents who face challenges in matters of co-parenting, child custody, and/or blended families. Beginning in January 2011, this group met from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month through June, and will resume in September 2011. Co-Parenting Today seeks to respond to the needs of parents through bible study, prayer, learning, and shared experiences. This group is open to any and all newcomers.
