Sharing your time and your talents are very much appreciated at St. Matthew. There are many volunteer servant opportunities available throughout the church. Worship, Property, Community Service, Christian Education to name just a few. Worship service opportunities are many.
Acolytes serve at one service on a given Sunday and/or at special services like Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc. Duties include lighting candles, carrying the Lectionary or Cross in the procession, assisting with communion and receiving the offering at the altar from the ushers.
Altar Committee prepares the Chancel, Chapel, and Auditorium altars for all services throughout the church year. Duties include placing the Paraments and flowers for worship services, weddings and funerals. The Altar committee members also prepare the elements for communion and deliver altar flowers to our homebound members.
Greeters serve at one of the worship services on all of the Sundays in a given month. Duties include welcoming all members and guests to church and providing assistance in locating the different areas of the building as need.
Lectors serve at the 11:00 AM worship service on a given Sunday or for special services like Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving etc. Duties include reading the scripture lessons from the lectern.
Our Music Programs offer instrumental and vocal ensembles designed for children, beginning at age 3 years old, through young adults and adulthood. Duties include rehearsing, singing or playing musical instruments at various worship services.
Presenters of Communion Elements serve at one service on a given Sunday. Families are invited and encouraged to participate. Duties include carrying and presenting the elements for Holy Communion to the Altar.
Ushers select to serve at the 8:00, 9:00 or 11:00 AM service on all Sundays in a given month. Duties include greeting worshipers, distributing the bulletins, receiving the offering from the congregation and presenting the offering at the Altar. Men and women, from youth to adults, are welcomed.
Property, Community Service, Christian Education also have several servant opportunities as well as many of our other committees within the church. Share your time and talents. We need them.
