First Communion

Holy Communion is the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, given with bread and wine, instituted by Christ himself for us to eat and drink, "Given and shed for you for the remission of sins".

During the Lenten season, our fifth grade children participate in an eight week course during Sunday Church School to prepare for their First Communion. A parent's meeting to begin this study is held in January.

Using the "Come to God's Table" workbook, our children review and discuss baptism, Jesus' death, forgiveness and remembering what God has done through Jesus.

The class also meets with members of the Alter Committee to learn about their preparations for Holy Communion services.

Upon completion of the course, the students receive their First Communion and a Bible for study.
